Bon Appétit!

I watched Julie and Julia last week and have ever since been aching to cook more. So I've been fighting my current arch enemy, aka Monsieur Nausea, and trying to make yummy things.
Anyway, another thing I've been aching for since watching Julie and Julia is bruschetta... you know the part where she's frying up bread and cutting up juicy ripe roma tomatoes... YUM!

So, yesterday I made this:

All I can say is: sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good!

Recipe at my recipe blog, I dare you to try it, you will not regret it!

So here is what I came up with, very easy and extremely tasty!

For the tomatoes:

4 ripe roma tomatoes
1/2 c. basil leaves
1 tbs balsamic vinager
2 tbs olive oil
salt to taste

Chop the tomatoes and the basil leaves, mix all the ingredients and let it stand.

For the bread:

2 small baguettes, or 1 regular size one
2 cups (+/-) olive oil
8-10 garlic cloves

Cut the baguette into 1 inch slices.
In a large pan heat up the olive oil. Chop up the garlic and add it to the hot oil. Let the garlic cook until it's golden brown.
Remove the garlic and add the bread slices. the bread really brown before you turn it over.

Right before serving top each slice with a heaping serving of the tomatoes and sprinkle from freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Be sure always repeat the frying garlic in the oil process with each batch of bread that you make in the pan. I ended up making two batches, one with each small baguette. With each batch I use about a cup of olive oil and 4 garlic cloves.

But going back to the movie. I totally LOVED the movie. It's been a long long long time since I liked a movie as much as I liked this one. I identified with not only Julie but with Julia too. I was reminded of how much I love food, eating it and making it. So I decided to get back to it, to not be lazy and scared of making messes of getting something wrong. I also decided to be more artistic about my cooking, to really make it pretty and presentable and allow it to be another creative outlet. And finally to blog more about it and one day, who knows, maybe even visit Julia Child's kitchen... that would be way fun.

For if there is one thing we agree on is that "With enough butter, anything is good."

Looks pretty good Anna, I'll have to try the recipe one of these days.

You know, that movie came as one of our Netflix requests and Glen fell asleep almost immediately. Before he fell asleep he went on and on about how annoying her voice was, hahaha. I thought the movie was alright.
